Which trainers are compatible?
ROUVY supports virtual shifting on selected smart trainers. The current ROUVY support page lists compatible trainers from Elite, JetBlack, Tacx, Van Rysel and Wahoo, including models such as Wahoo KICKR Core 2, KICKR Move and KICKR Version 6.
Zwift Click V1 and V2 are supported on compatible ROUVY setups. While the hardware has evolved, both versions provide the same core virtual shifting experience, where Zwift Click V2 offers increased control from the handlebars. Zwift Ride is also fully compatible with ROUVY. Zwift Play is not supported at the moment.
Zwift Cog works with most 8- to 13-speed drivetrains. It is not compatible with belt-drive bikes or internal gear hubs such as Shimano Alfine or Nexus.
Before buying, check your trainer model, drivetrain and firmware against the latest ROUVY compatibility list. Virtual shifting on ROUVY works through Bluetooth, not ANT+, so your device connections matter too.
Does Zwift Cog work with ROUVY?
Yes, Zwift Cog setups work with ROUVY when paired with a compatible trainer. ROUVY supports all versions of Zwift Click (V1 and V2), plus Zwift Ride, and our support page lists compatible setups.
That is good news for ROUVY riders who already own Zwift hardware, are looking at new smart trainer bundles, or wish to upgrade their compatible trainer with Zwift Cog & Click. You can ride real-world ROUVY routes with virtual gear changes rather than relying only on a traditional cassette setup.
Which setup is right for you?
The first question is whether your trainer supports virtual shifting. If it doesn't, you can either continue to use your existing cassette setup or explore upgrading your setup to a Zwift Cog & Click compatible trainer here.
Once you have a compatible trainer, gear range becomes the main consideration.
Many riders start looking at Zwift Click because they run out of climbing gears on steep indoor routes. ROUVY includes plenty of long climbs where finding a comfortable cadence matters more than it might on flatter routes. Virtual shifting adds a much wider gear range than many standard cassette setups, making it easier to keep turning the pedals on sustained gradients.
