This route, situated on the rugged tropical island of Hawai`i, is designed to test the world's top triathletes. Riders exit the Kailua-Kona pier area heading up Palani road and then loop around and through Kailua-Kona for the first 10 miles before heading out on the Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway and through the legendary lava fields towards Hawi. The final 10km will take athletes up the climb to Hawi and straight into the strong Tradewinds of the Hawaiian Islands ending 3.5 miles short of the official IRONMAN® World Championship turn around.
ROUVY CEO Petr Samek, “Not many have the opportunity to visit Hawai`i and test themselves on the highly demanding Kona course. And only the select few qualify to compete over the crown of the triathlon world. So, we are happy to give every athlete the opportunity to experience it virtually from home.”
Athletes will start in Kailua-Kona as they snake their way through the beachside community. Around the 22km, sweat to the best of Hawai`i’s Big Island as you ride over former lava fields. This followed by strenuous ascents at 35km and the 64km. As you descend from the peaks enjoy the stunning ocean views that created the great Hawaiian legends.
