It's time to compete in the Clásico El Colombiano!

Antioquia, Colombia,  July 30, 2020 - Classic Foundation of Executives El Colombiano teams up with ROUVY to host a virtual race of the Columbian “Reto Peajes” Classic on August 2nd. The race will donate to fight the COVID-19 epidemic in the local vicinity.

The Clásico El Colombiano is a cycling event with a long history in Antioquia, Colombia, which performs competitions in different modalities, combining categories for professionals and amateurs. It is organized by the Classic Foundation of Executives El Colombiano, whose main purpose is to improve the social, educational, cultural and sporting conditions of the community. Given the COVID-19 health emergency declared in the country, the Clásico El Colombiano, following its purpose of promoting cycling and taking advantage of the rise of digital channels for sports, relied on ROUVY for a realistic simulation.

On August 2nd (16:00 CET), a virtual version of this sporting event will take place, with cyclists participating from all over the world. The “Reto Peajes” (Topos – Llanogrande – Carrizales) route will be 33km long and will virtually take place in Antioquia, Colombia. Race director, Marcelo Rincón says “It is a "classic" route among Antioquia cyclists that meets the ideal characteristics for a race (sprint, mountain prizes, and rest areas)”.

The race has 11 categories according to the competitive level and age. The entry registration fee is $15.

The money collected will be contributed to CFEC social work. Each registered rider will receive a participation kit and the winners will receive special gifts from the event sponsors.

The race will be broadcast live on television at 9:00AM local time on the regional channel, Teleantioquia.

About the event organizer

Since 1980 the Classic Foundation of Executives El Colombiano aims to contribute to the improvement of social, educational, civic, cultural, recreational, sports and general conditions that benefit the community.

The Foundation is a permanent non-profit entity, whose patrimony is increased by the sums of money that are obtained as a product of the different cycling events and the money that is acquired with contributions, donations and aid.

The distribution of the money collected is made to institutions designated by the Board of Directors of the Foundation, in accordance with the established norms and proportionally to the needs or requests made, the social purpose of which is fully in accordance with the requirements.
