Trento, Italy / The final kilometres of all five stages of the 2022 Tour of the Alps are now on ROUVY. For the international community, the virtual TotA Challenge will run until May 1, with the exclusive Tour of the Alps prizes to grab, together with the opportunity to support DEBRA.

The Italian Alps are among the world’s most admired mountains and perhaps the most coveted for those who love to ride for business or pleasure. The Alps need no introduction for cyclists from all over the world, and the images and awe inspired by the Tour of the Alps only increase the desire to tackle these peaks.

For the champions of world cycling, confronting the real climbs of the Tirol - Südtirol – Trentino Euroregion is just a few weeks away (April 18-22, 2022). For fans from all over the world, however, the wait is over.

This year the Tour of the Alps received a virtual twin on March 28. And so, until May 1, it will be possible to take part in the Tour of the Alps #LiveUphill Challenge on the ROUVY platform. Participants will have five weeks to complete the final kilometers of all five stages of the 2022 Tour of the Alps and take on the challenge of these Euroregion climbs.

Thanks to ROUVY’s technology and with the use of a smart trainer, athletes will see their avatars in action against the backdrop of the authentic landscapes of the Tour of the Alps, while they sweat the climbs and experience the excitement of the descents. It’s an event to be enjoyed, just like putting wheels to asphalt in Trentino, Südtirol and Tirol, and maybe to anticipate living it in the flesh.

PRIZES & CHARITY

In addition, all athletes who complete the challenge will be able to participate in a draw for the special Tour of the Alps prizes, from #TotA cycling kits by Alé to original jerseys signed by race favorites of the next Tour of the Alps. There is also the opportunity to do some good: for every athlete who finishes all five stages by May 1, the Tour of the Alps will make a donation to DEBRA, the non-profit organization that supports research on epidermolysis bullosa, a rare disease that severely impacts the quality of life of many children.

"The Virtual Tour of the Alps is a project that started far away,” explained Maurizio Evangelista, General Manager of the Tour of the Alps. “Today, indoor cycling allows many people to experience all kinds of routes directly from home in a realistic way. We wanted to give many people the opportunity to ride the same famous roads of regions known worldwide. ROUVY’s technology, which allows participants to appreciate the real charm of the areas where the riding takes place, is ideal for adding value to this initiative, as well as succeeding in promoting the region".

Unanimously considered the most reliable testing ground for the Giro d’Italia contenders, the Tour of the Alps is raced over five stages, whose courses are characteristically short but very intense, providing for spectacular racing offered by the many top riders who pursue a prestigious success in the Euregio year after year. https://www.tourofthealps.eu/
