The Campo Imperatore pass, in the Apennine range, is legendary. The mountain, also known as the Gran Sasso, has featured in the Giro d'Italia and has been the remote and rugged battleground of Giro d'Italia legends. Starting along the foothills of forests, open fields and stony meadows, we climb above the treeline, with views of green mountain pastures spread out into the distance. Thanks to its high altitude and dry and remote environment, the locals know the area as Little Tibet.

Monte Velo is a 13 km continuous climb from Bolognano in the hamlet of Arco to Monte Velo S. Barbara in the province of Trento just north of Lake Garda. The scenic ascent is one of the most popular among the locals in Upper Garda. The average gradient is 8% with a 1058m ascent, and at 3W/kg, it will take you just over an hour to climb it.

The Tre Cime di Lavaredo, in Veneto, is a legendary climb with steep hairpin bends and one of the most beautiful, with spectacular views and panoramas of the Dolomites. The famous climb where Eddy Merckx won the Giro in 1968 leads you over two main climb segments and where you will pass the crystal-clear Lake Misurina. The gradients get more demanding and challenging from that point to the end, but the views near the top are breathtaking and will undoubtedly be your reward.

You'll cycle past the Ponte Milvio, skirt the Castel Sant'Angelo, ride not far from the haunting ruins of the Pantheon temple and Colosseum.
